The BER Berlin Brandenburg Airport

Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport went into operation in October 2020. The former Schönefeld Airport was expanded by 970 hectares to a total area of 1,470 hectares. Directly under Terminal 1 is the efficient, six-track railway station with three platforms.

BER takes you directly to the heart of Berlin or the entire state of Brandenburg by public transport. You can quickly reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Potsdam by regional train. Here you can explore castles, gardens and insider tips such as the Babelsberg Film Park or DAS MINSK with its modern and contemporary art at your leisure. Top destinations such as the spa town of Bad Saarow on Lake Scharmützel or the baroque Neuzelle Monastery are within easy reach. Another popular destination is the Spreewald - a lagoon-like water labyrinth that is unique in Europe and offers opportunities for canoeing, hiking and cycling. The Uckermark Lakes Nature Park invites you to linger.

With BER Airport as a starting point, visitors have endless opportunities to explore Brandenburg. The very dense network of public transport means that many attractive places are not far away.

The legendary earth pyramid of Prince Pückler in Branitzer Park in Cottbus, the city of Brandenburg an der Havel or the socialist planned city of Eisenhüttenstadt can be reached directly from BER by train. The same applies to the water town of Fürstenberg (Havel) and Templin. Both towns offer the best conditions for nature-based activities from hiking to water sports in surroundings rich in forests and lakes. Why not explore the landscape by bike? Brandenburg - and right in the middle Berlin

Berlin is a fascinating city with a rich history and a vibrant atmosphere, and only a stone's throw away. Airport Express and regional trains run to Berlin's main train station at short intervals. In addition, the S-Bahn S9 and S45 run directly from BER to Berlin's city center.

As a vibrant and dynamic city, Berlin offers plenty of culture as well as a variety of sights, activities and experiences.
The contrasts between historic buildings and contemporary architecture, between tradition and modernity, distinguish the city and make it exciting at the same time. With more than 170 museums, including the world-famous Museum Island, Berlin is a city of the arts. Potsdamer Platz, on the other hand, is a modern center with skyscrapers, stores, restaurants and cinemas. It's a lively place that has a lot to offer day and night. Particularly impressive is the Gendarmenmarkt with its architectural masterpieces such as the Concert Hall and the French and German Cathedrals.

Berlin was divided by a wall for almost three decades, so a visit to the Berlin Wall is an absolute must. Remnants of the wall can still be seen, such as Checkpoint Charlie and the East Side Gallery, where artfully painted segments of the wall can be found.
Shopping fans will find countless options on the famous Kurfürstendamm and elegant Friedrichstraße, and there are original boutiques all around Hackesche Höfe.

The city is also known for its exciting nightlife, lively arts and culture scene, and diverse culinary landscape. Last but not least, Berlin is a relaxed city with extensive parks, forests and lakes.
