At the historically authentic location, the permanent exhibition in and around the Nieder Neuendorf Border Tower tells the history of the division of Berlin, its importance for the region and the impact it had on the town of Hennigsdorf. The exhibition was newly developed from the ground up in 2014 and now uses multi-media formats to tell the events in the region’s history from the end of the Second World War to the completion of German Reunification. The structure and everyday life of the GDR border troops and the internal surveillance mechanisms are explained using the example of the former Border Regiment 38. The exhibition also tells the history of refugees, those who wanted to leave and opponents from the region. Historic films and a free audio guide make a visit to the bilingual exhibition a real experience.
