Description

Here it whispers, there it is silent, sometimes it giggles, sometimes it rustles, sometimes it is a gentle meadow stream. The narrow path winds along the river below the forested slopes. Sometimes you have to climb over rotten trees or fight your way through thick ferns. The wagtail hops from stone to stone, the knocking of the woodpecker echoes through the forest and a beaver has felled the nearest tree. Just a few steps further there is a quiet lake and a majestic sea eagle circling high above. The Schlaubetal presents itself with fascinating images in every season.

Highlights in Schlaubetal:

• Personal forest stage: Hiking through one of the most beautiful stream valleys in Brandenburg. Actor: You and your changing mind. In the other roles: shimmering lakes, dense magical forests, dark swamps, rare animal and plant species and dreamy, old mills
• Schlaubetal-Wanderweg: Challenging trekking day tour over the entire length. Shorter daily stages and other options in the hiking region are also possible. The A400 excursion line offers boarding and alighting options and is coordinated with the train timetable. Alternatively, stay overnight on nature campsites, in hotels and guesthouses or in the youth hostel
• Swimming: At the Stapell, Schervenz and Müllroser lakes
• Focused: refuges, rest stops and photo spots for nature and bird watching

Tour tip 1 “Complete the entire route”: Wirchensee to Müllrose, 28km, approx. 7 hours

The Schlaubetal hiking trail is a varied hiking trail on which you get to know the entire landscape diversity of the Schlaubetal. In order to complete the entire route as a challenging day tour, the path, which runs in a north-south direction, can be hiked in both directions. If you travel by public transport, we recommend starting in the south and hiking north. This makes it easier for you to plan the return journey by bus or train from Müllrose, the destination of the tour, without any time pressure.

Tour tip 2 “The Wild South”: From Wirchensee via Bremsdorfer Mühle to Kupferhammer, 19.5km, approx. 5.5 – 6 hours

If you want to take it a little more relaxed, you can also tackle a partial stage of the Schlaubetal hiking trail. The start is the Schlaubemühle in Reifeln. Before you follow the blue S on the signs to the north, you can take a detour around the remote Wirchensee (approx. 1 hour extra). It's worth taking a look at the small peninsula in the middle of the lake: numerous species of birds breed here. After a short but steep climb, you can then enjoy the view of the water from the Försterblick from a height of 112 meters. If you're lucky, you might see an osprey hunting!

Now on the official Schlaubetal hiking trail, the Schlaube sometimes greets you from up close, sometimes hiding away in the jungle-like reed and swamp area. Before you get to the Bremsdorfer Mühle, which is worth seeing, things get wildly romantic. On a narrow trail you follow the Schlaube through the deep valley that the small river has cut into the landscape. Sometimes it goes over stairs and along densely wooded, steep slopes - almost like in the low mountain ranges.

If necessary, you can end the tour at the Bremsdorfer Mühle and use the excursion bus line for the return journey. We recommend that you extend your hiking adventure and hike to Kupferhammer. As an alternative to the designated route, you can also use the particularly natural trail on the western bank of the lake, which later meets up with the Schlaubetal hiking trail. So you can take a detour to the Heaven & Hell viewpoint and go on a visual eagle hunt in the bird watching hut. The idyllic Forsthaus Siehdichum and the Kupferhammer restaurant invite you to replenish your energy stores. Tour tip 2 ends at the Kupferhammer bus stop, where the A400 bus offers connections to Müllrose or Jacobsdorf and the RE1.

Tour tip 3: “The Gentle Schlaube”: from Bremsdorfer Mühle to Müllrose, 19km, approx. 5.5 – 6 hours

In the north it becomes increasingly flatter. The aperture gradually becomes wider and the landscape shows its gentler side. The forest opens up again and again and allows beautiful panoramic views and views of the water. At the Bre youth hostelmsdorfer mill, the path leads along the western bank of the Stapellsee. The path winds through the forest. The sun makes the water shine a brilliant turquoise. What a play of colors.

The Ragower Mühle is located in an idyllic and quiet location in the middle of the Lower Schlaubetal nature reserve. Today's technical monument houses a restaurant with a cozy, family atmosphere, regional specialties and a popular beer garden. How about a red barrel shower from Neuzelle on the shady terrace?

Finally the small river flows into the Großer Müllroser See. If you haven't had enough water yet, you can refresh yourself in the outdoor pool on the eastern shore of the lake. Finally you come to Müllrose. By the way, the curious place name has nothing to do with “garbage”, but is the Germanized version of the originally Sorbian name “Miloraz”.
